SBMA SBMA SBMA

The SCAD Council arranged a meeting among the officials of SBMA, Subic Bay International Terminal Corporation (SBITC) and Clark Investors and Locators Association (CILA) on October 15, 2008 at the CIAC boardroom. SBMA Administrator Armand Arreza briefed the locators on the facilities and competitive advantages of the new 600,000 Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) Container Terminals 1 and 2.

Yokohama, a Clark-based leading tire manufacturer with a daily cargo volume of 50 TEU’s, expressed interest in using the Port of Subic for the transshipment of its products. The Asia Foundation committed to support SBMA in its marketing efforts by providing a link to the Association of International Shipping Lines, Inc. (AISL) in the Philippines. AISL is composed of overseas shipping companies, both local and foreign, that provide shipping services between foreign and Philippine ports.

Likewise, the meeting sought to determine the available potential cargo volume that would contribute to the full utilization of the Port of Subic. To determine the needed data, the SCAD Council is planning to conduct a survey with the end in view of consolidating the total cargo volume of Regions I, II and III that can be shipped through the Port of Subic Bay.
